Rebel Ninja Gym’s mission is: To Educate, Support, and Empower individuals to become capable, prepared and confident problem solvers, movers, and learners through self-discovery, and evidence-based designed progressions. Through repeated exposure to various obstacles, individuals have ample opportunities to practice fundamental movement patterns and positions, developing the physical skills necessary to successfully navigate challenges and complete tasks.

 

Our programs vary from in gym to offsite and from ages 2-4 in our Discovery program to Adults.

Job Summary:

The Director of Ninja and Obstacle Operations will oversee all aspects of Rebel Ninja, ensuring smooth daily operations, exceptional member experiences, and a thriving community. This role involves operating facilities, coordinating and evaluating staff, program implementation and evaluation, and driving the gym’s growth while maintaining a fun and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facility Operations: Execute on the day-to-day operations of the ninja gym space, ensuring that all equipment and facilities are in good working order and meet safety standards.

  • Programming Evaluation and Implementation: Oversee and ensure training programs and classes are being executed and tailored to various skill levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Develop and manage report card evaluations, level up testing, reward and recognition programs, and themed activities.

  • Staff Coordinator: Recruit, train, coordinate and mentor a team of coaches, trainers, and support staff. Schedule staff shifts, ensuring adequate coverage for all classes and operational needs as well as execute performance evaluations.

  • Member Experience: Ensure a high-quality experience for members by addressing their needs, handling inquiries, and resolving any issues or complaints. Gather feedback from members to continuously improve the gym’s offerings and services.

  • Operational Efficiency: Optimize gym operations to improve efficiency and streamline processes, including class scheduling, equipment usage, and inventory management. Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational success and areas for improvement.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

In partnership with the NOHFC People and Talent Program, which is designed to attract, retain and develop Northern Ontario’s workforce, the internship position of 52 weeks is for candidates that:

 • Are new entrants into the work force, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field; 

• Have not previously participated in a NOHFC-funded internship; 

• Are at least 18 years of age; and 

• Reside, and be legally entitled to work, in Canada. 

  • Have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, with a grade 12 English credit

  • Ontario College of Teachers Certification

  • Early Childhood Educator

  • Occupational Therapy, Occupational Therapy Assistant

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or related field is a plus.

  • Previous experience in fitness, obstacle course training, or sports facility management preferred.

  • Experience in coaching, athletic training, or gym operations is highly beneficial

  • Have valid first aid and child CPR certificates

  • Pass a police record check

  • Have experience working with young children

  • Proven experience in a managerial or leadership role.

  • Industry-specific experience (as required by the role).

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience in budgeting, financial management, and marketing.

  • Knowledge of safety and compliance standards in the fitness industry.

  • Passion for fitness, obstacle training, and community engagement.

  • Strong time management skills

  • Perform and evaluate basic calisthenics and gymnastics movements 

 

 

Work Schedule & Time Commitment:

Due to the nature of our program offerings and class schedules, weekday work hours will mainly operate between 12:30 PM – 8:30 PM but will vary depending on field trips and other day time bookings. There is programming on the weekends as well. Daytime hours may be allocated for tasks such as staff coordination, marketing, and program evaluation when there are no scheduled bookings. Flexibility is required

 

Compensation:

$45,000 - $69,000

  • Starting salary based on qualifications, experience and training required

Ninja & Obstacle Course Coach

Are you energetic, active, and love working with kids?
We’re looking for high school students to join our team as Ninja & Obstacle Course Coaches! This is a great opportunity to build leadership skills, stay active, and make a positive impact in your community.

​

 

 

Position Overview

Ninja & Obstacle Course Coaches help lead fun, safe, and engaging classes for kids of all ages. You’ll guide participants through warm-ups, obstacle circuits, and games while encouraging confidence, teamwork, and physical development. Coaches will also help set up equipment, monitor safety, and act as positive role models.

​

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up and taking down obstacle courses and equipment.
     

  • Lead small groups of kids through activities with enthusiasm and encouragement.
     

  • Demonstrate safe use of equipment and proper movement techniques.
     

  • Support head coaches in running classes, camps, and events.
     

  • Create a fun, inclusive environment where all kids feel successful.
     

  • Model respect, responsibility, and positive sportsmanship.
     

 

 

Qualifications

  • High school student (ages 14+) with an interest in sports, fitness, or recreation.
     

  • Energetic, positive, and great with kids.
     

  • Reliable, responsible, and able to work as part of a team.
     

  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups and leading activities.
     

  • No coaching experience required — training will be provided!
